Free analyses
How many analyses are free?
Every iPhone gets 3 free analyses. Each recipe you analyse counts as one, and analysing a saved recipe again counts as a new one. The Healthier Version is part of its analysis and doesn't count separately.
Will reinstalling the app give me new free analyses?
No. The free analyses belong to the iPhone, so they stay used after you delete and reinstall the app. A subscription isn't tied to the iPhone; see restoring purchases below.
Subscription
What does the subscription include?
Analyses beyond the free ones, with a Healthier Version for each, up to a generous monthly limit. If you reach the limit, the app tells you the date it resets. You can choose a monthly or a yearly plan. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, thenSubscriptions, choose Five Olives and tap Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.Apple's guide to cancelling.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles payments, so refunds are requested from Apple atreportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
I have a new iPhone or reinstalled the app. How do I get my subscription back?
Open the subscription screen from the Household tab and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you subscribed with. You won't be charged again.
Your recipes and household
Where are my saved recipes and household details?
Only on your iPhone. There's no account and no sync between devices. They move to a new iPhone with an iCloud Backup or a direct transfer from your old iPhone. If you delete the app without a backup, they're gone.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything you entered is stored in it. We keep no copy of your recipes or your household's details. The privacy policy lists the little we do keep.
The app couldn't read my recipe link.
Some recipe sites block automated reading, or put the recipe behind a login. Copy the recipe's ingredients and method from the page, paste them into the app instead of the link, and analyse again. Pasted text works for recipes from books and notes too.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, to analyse a recipe. Saved recipes open without one.
The analysis
How does Five Olives judge a recipe?
Mediterranean Fit follows MEDAS, the 14-point Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener from the PREDIMED trial. Health Rating looks at estimated nutrients per serving and how processed the ingredients are, using the NOVA groups. Household Fit checks the recipe against what you wrote about the people you cook for. The analysis is written by AI (Claude, made by Anthropic), so it can occasionally be wrong. Always check ingredient lists yourself when an allergy is involved.
Is this medical advice?
No. Five Olives gives general information about food. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything. If you change your diet for a health reason, check with your doctor or a registered dietitian.
Where is the app available?
On iPhone, in the App Store in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
